Lamorinda is a charming area of Contra Costa County encompassing the communities of Lafayette, Orinda, and Moraga. These three idyllic communities are nestled within the rolling hillsides between Oakland and Berkeley to the west and Walnut Creek to the east. Lamorinda Communities
The peaceful semi-rural community of Orinda extends across the rolling hillsides to the east of Berkeley. Highway 24 bisects both Orinda and Lafayette on its route from Oakland in the west to Walnut Creek in the east. The inviting small city of Lafayette features a vibrant downtown area with a sophisticated dining scene. Moraga is nestled within a valley to the south of Orinda and Lafayette. Moraga Country Club is one of the area’s most desirable gated communities with 521 luxurious homes overlooking a beautiful 18-hole golf course. All three communities offer a relaxed and quiet setting within easy reach of other destinations throughout Contra Costa County and the San Francisco Bay Area. Both Orinda and Lafayette have BART stations connecting to Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco.

Lafayette’s Mount Diablo Boulevard is teeming with trendy stores and restaurants.

Diablo Foods has long upheld a reputation as one of Contra Costa County’s finest grocery stores. The communities of Lamorinda are surrounded by open space with many hiking trails ascending the area’s scenic hillsides. Residents of all three communities also enjoy access to a wide range of local sports groups and teams. There are lots of kids’ swim teams and lessons available at the area’s aquatics facilities, including
Sun Valley Swimming Pool and
Sherman Swim School in Lafayette and
Orinda Park Pool and
Oak Springs Pool in Orinda. Moraga Country Club features a year-round pool complex with a nine-lane lap pool, baby pool, and two spas. Other amenities at
Moraga Country Club include exceptional tennis facilities and a rolling 18-hole golf course. The club’s centerpiece is a striking 22,000-square-foot California Mission-style clubhouse with upscale dining spaces and an extensive program of social events.
Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga has 17 Division 1 sports teams, including one of the nation’s top-ranked mid-major basketball programs. Men’s and women’s teams from Saint Mary’s have won championships in soccer, softball, tennis, rugby, and volleyball.
Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art hosts special exhibitions and a permanent collection that includes many works from noted landscape painter William Keith.
